welcome!
Klaich Animal Hospital was founded in 1950 by Dr. Nicholas Klaich, Sr. He was born in 1919 in McGill, Nevada; the son of Serbian immigrants. After graduating from White Pine High School, he worked as a plumber for Kenecott Copper Company. His lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian came true when he graduated from Colorado State University's School of Veterinary Medicine in 1943. Dr. Nick Klaich was a solo practitioner from 1950 until 1959, when he was joined by his nephew, also a McGill native who worked for Kenecott Copper Company, Dr. George W. Klaich. Likewise, George graduated from Colorado State University, as valedictorian in 1959. He moved his family to Reno upon graduation, and began his personal journey at Klaich Animal Hospital.
Over the years, Klaich Animal Hospital has been very fortunate to have many long serving doctors. Some notable doctors include:
-Dr. Nicholas Klaich, Jr. (son of Dr. Nicholas Klaich, Sr. and current senior partner), arrival: 1969
-Dr. Robert Cocanour, arrival: 1974
-Dr. William Smith, arrival: 1975
-Dr. Mark Klaich (son of Dr. George Klaich), arrival: 1989
-Dr. Richard Furman, arrival: 1990
.
Klaich Animal Hospital is the oldest continually operating veterinary practice in the Northern Nevada area. We are currently serving the third generation of many families, and, in a few cases, the fourth generation. We welcome, and thank you, for considering us to provide your family's veterinary needs.
